Mohsin Naqvi to review Barrister Gohar's request to meet Imran Khan

Barrister Gohar Ali also spoke with the Interior Minister over the phone.

The Interior Minister has assured that he will review Barrister Gohar's request to meet with Imran Khan.

According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has written a letter to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in which he has requested a meeting with the founding chairman of PTI, Imran Khan.

Yesterday, Barrister Gohar also spoke with the Federal Interior Minister over the phone. In this regard, the spokesperson stated that the Interior Minister has assured that he will review the request; however, he did not confirm whether the meeting would be permitted.

According to the spokesperson, there is a ban on all prisoner meetings in the context of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and security concerns. Allowing one prisoner to meet would create a double standard and unequal treatment for other inmates.

Earlier Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced plans to postpone its protest scheduled for October 15, set to a condition that a meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan is arranged.

During a core committee meeting led by Barrister Salman Akram Raja, it was agreed that if a meeting with Imran can be organized by October 14, the protest will be delayed. If a meeting with doctors, lawyers, or any party leader was facilitated, the protest would be postponed.

Adiala Jail has imposed a ban on all prisoner visits until October 18, affecting all types of meetings. This restriction includes visits for prominent inmates such as Imran Khan, the founder of the PTI.

Authorities have heightened security protocols in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi, where Adiala Jail is situated.
