Govt committed to 'successful SCO summit'

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed the country's commitment to successfully hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. Besides, he also criticized a political party (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) for attempting to subvert the moot through a protest call.

In order to review the arrangements of SCO conference in Islamabad, a walk was organized. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Atta Ullah Tarar led the walk.

Speaking to media, Dar emphasised that Pakistan was fully prepared to welcome leaders and delegates from SCO member and observer countries, adding the Indian foreign minister will also attend the moot.

Reflecting on past events, Dar pointed out that one political party had staged a sit-in during the Chinese premier's visit back in 2014 and was now attempting to disrupt the SCO summit.

"Holding a protest amid an event of national importance is not a positive message," Dar said.
