PHA beautifies green belts for SCO summit
The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has transformed the green belt along Old Airport Road into a vibrant display of flowers and decorative carts, welcoming delegations for the upcoming Shanghai conference.
Under the guidance of PHA Rawalpindi, the planting of winter flora on Rawal Road and Old Airport Road has been successfully completed, coinciding with the launch of an anti-dengue campaign in the city's green belts.
Following directives from PHA DG Ahmad Hasan Ranjha, a dedicated initiative has been implemented to promote winter plant cultivation and enhance the upkeep of green belts along these major roads. The anti-dengue campaign includes ongoing efforts to eliminate mosquito larvae in local parks and green areas, ensuring a healthier environment for residents.
A comprehensive maintenance and cleanliness campaign has also been initiated, with PHA staff and vehicles actively participating. This effort includes grass mowing, renovation of plant beds, and overall beautification of the green belts.
DG Ahmad Hasan Ranjha emphasised that all roads surrounding the Old Airport are being revitalized in preparation for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting, with a focus on enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the area's green spaces.
