Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, the chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, announced that the party will continue its struggle until the government implements an agreement regarding electricity bills. He emphasised that the government must reduce electricity charges without fail.
During an online meeting chaired by Rehman, 54,000 members from across the country, including 47,000 men and 7,000 women, participated from various cities such as Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Quetta.
In his address, he stated that the aim of Jamaat-e-Islami’s "Haq Do Awam" movement is to secure rights for the people. He asserted that the struggle will persist until the Rawalpindi agreement is implemented.
Rehman expressed satisfaction with the overwhelming public interest in the party’s membership campaign, inviting citizens to join Jamaat-e-Islami and become part of a peaceful resistance movement.
He reiterated that Jamaat-e-Islami will engage in politics solely from its own platform. "Whether it is a public movement, a stance, or a campaign, Jamaat-e-Islami will conduct political resistance independently," he said.
The chief added that the party will hold discussions with various political entities, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), but clarified that Jamaat-e-Islami will not form alliances with any party in the elections.
Rehman also stressed the necessity for the government to reduce electricity bills and terminate further Independent Power Producer (IPP) agreements to provide relief to the public.
