RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab School Education Department has decided to start the rationalisation of teachers in primary and middle schools from October 14. The step is being taken along with the privatisation of 20,000 government schools across the province.

The rationalisation will be completed by November 10. Teachers will be appointed in all schools as per requirement. However, in the first phase, the rationalisation will be implemented in primary and elementary schools on a priority basis.

In the first phase, there will be rationalisation in primary schools. At least three teachers will be appointed in each primary school and in the primary sections of all schools.

Male teachers will be accommodated in boys' schools and female teachers will be accommodated in girls' schools.

Female teachers will be adjusted to a maximum distance of 10km and male teachers to a maximum distance of 15 km. Among the schools with surplus teachers, the teacher with the longest tenure will be shifted.

Marking of schools with head plus teachers will be done under this formula with the help of a computer system.
