Former Pakistan cricket coach Mickey Arthur has voiced significant concerns regarding the excessive promotion of players, suggesting that it distances them from reality and instills an inflated sense of self-importance. His remarks come in the wake of Pakistan's recent defeat to England, a loss that has reignited discussions about the team's dynamics and performance.

Taking to social media, Arthur praised the players for their undeniable talent but also underscored several factors that he believes negatively impact the team’s morale and overall performance.

"The players are very, very skilled and are the right ones," Arthur said. "The inconsistency around selection, environment, and administration plays a role in team morale, give the players structure, and they will perform."

Arthur specifically addressed the detrimental influence of media-driven narratives, noting that negative rhetoric can have a harmful effect on the team’s psyche.

"The vile rhetoric from media and media-driven agendas do not help," he said.

A central point in Arthur’s critique was the overpromotion of players by agents and the media, which he believes contributes to a distorted sense of reality for the athletes.

"The promotion of players by player agents or media makes the player sometimes think he is way more important than he is in reality, creating a false view," Arthur stated.
