Sons of slain constable refute Omar Ayub's claims about father's martyrdom

PTI's Omar Ayub had claimed that the martyred constable's sons had said he died from blood pressure and a heart attack

The sons of police constable Abdul Hameed Shah have publicly refuted the statement made by PTI leader Omar Ayub regarding their father's death.

On October 4, constable Shah was severely injured during a PTI protest, which ultimately led to his death.

Yesterday, Omar Ayub, in a local television programme, stated, “The martyr constable died due to blood pressure and heart attack,” citing a statement from the slain constable's sons.

However, video statements and a denial from the constable’s sons have surfaced.

Son Nauman Abdul Hameed Shah said, “According to my father’s medical report, there were severe signs of injury on his head and other parts of his body.”

He urged the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Inspector General of Islamabad, and the Army Chief to ensure justice and punish those responsible for his father's death.

Another son, Hamad Hamid Shah, confirmed, “My father was martyred on October 4, 2024, during the PTI rally.” He mentioned that a CT scan report indicated injuries on his father’s head and chest.

Earlier PTI founder Imran Khan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, PTI leader Azam Swati, and several others have been named in a murder case concerning Constable Abdul Hamid Shah.

According to police sources, constable Abdul Hameed Shah sustained severe injuries during a confrontation with PTI workers and was subsequently placed on a ventilator at PIMS, where he later died from his injuries.

The Islamabad Police, in a statement on X, indicated that “miscreants continued to torture Abdul Hameed Shah after abducting him” from Chungi No. 26, where he was assigned for law enforcement duties.

It was noted that Abdul Hameed Shah was part of the Investigations Wing and hailed from Abbottabad. He had joined the police force in 1988.
