Madelyn Cline addresses fan criticism of Outer Banks characters: We’ve had enough' drama in season 4
Madelyn Cline, who plays Sarah Cameron in Netflix’s Outer Banks, has addressed fan reactions to the drama surrounding her character in the show’s previous seasons. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Cline expressed relief that the character's relationship with John B, played by Chase Stokes, has stabilized in season 4. “We’ve had enough [drama]. We have 3 seasons worth,” Cline said. She admitted that the ongoing tension between Sarah and John B had been exhausting, saying, “I’m tired of people coming for me.”
In season 3, Sarah briefly rekindled her relationship with her ex, Topper (Austin North), after splitting with John B, which led to a dramatic confrontation between the two men. Reflecting on that storyline, Cline commented, “Sarah came for herself when she did that.” Co-star Madison Bailey, who plays Kiara, humorously added, “Why is [Topper] everywhere?”
Cline teased that while the first part of season 4, which premiered on October 10, showcases a more harmonious dynamic between Sarah and John B, there may still be conflict ahead. “Just because the first five episodes start out happy doesn’t mean that there isn’t going to be some sort of discourse,” she hinted.
The fourth season follows the Pogues on another treasure hunt, this time taking them to Morocco. Cline admitted to PEOPLE that she was surprised by the show’s exotic new location, as previous seasons mostly filmed in Barbados.
