Quetta rail service restored following month-long Bolan bridge repairs

The Jaffar Express departed from Quetta, marking the restoration of rail services after repairs were completed.

QUETTA/BALOCHISTAN:

Train services from Quetta to other parts of the country have resumed after one and a half months, following the completion of repairs to a railway bridge in Bolan that was damaged in a terrorist attack.

The Jaffar Express has departed from Quetta, carrying passengers to Peshawar, according to Express news.

According to Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railways Imran Hayat, the restoration of the train service after 46 days was a remarkable achievement, as the damaged bridge was rebuilt by Pakistan Railways' technical team in record time.

The Karachi-bound Bolan Mail is also set to depart today, with security measures in place to ensure safe travel.

Passengers expressed their relief and gratitude, saying the restoration of the service would ease the difficulties they had faced during the suspension.

Railway bridge destroyed in bolan blast

Previously, a blast in the Bolan region of Balochistan resulted in the death of one person and injured several others, leading to the suspension of train services in the area.

The explosion occurred last night in the Dozan area of Bolan, where a railway bridge was destroyed, as confirmed by railway sources.

The destruction of the bridge halted train movements from Karachi and Rawalpindi to Quetta, severely disrupting transportation and stranding passengers.

The incident caused significant delays in operations, with authorities working to restore services as soon as possible.

In a separate incident, armed men attacked passengers in the Musakhel district of Balochistan, killing at least 23 people after forcing them off trucks and buses on the national highway in the Rarah Sham area.

The assailants also set ten vehicles ablaze.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attacks, extending his condolences to the victims' families.

He pledged that the provincial government would bring the culprits to justice and ensure they face severe consequences for their acts of terrorism.
