Lionel Messi’s drink company, Mas+ by Messi, is facing a legal battle with Logan Paul and KSI’s Prime Hydration over claims of "anti-competitive" actions. On October 8, 2024, Mark Anthony International, the distributor of Mas+, filed a lawsuit seeking a declaratory judgment, asserting that their packaging does not infringe on Prime’s design.

The legal action follows Prime Hydration’s alleged demands for Mas+ to cease sales unless the drink’s packaging was altered. The lawsuit also claims that Prime threatened a trademark and trade dress infringement lawsuit, prompting Mas+ to defend their brand.

Mark Anthony International conducted a survey with an experienced expert, concluding that consumers were not likely to confuse the two brands. The lawsuit highlights the marketing differences between Messi’s Mas+ and Prime, underscoring Logan Paul's public controversies as a distinguishing factor between the two companies.

This lawsuit comes on the heels of Prime Hydration recently overcoming another legal hurdle, where a lawsuit concerning "forever chemicals" was dismissed earlier in October.

The outcome of this legal clash between two major sports drink companies remains to be seen, as the hydration beverage market continues to heat up.
