Netflix renews hit rom-com Nobody Wants This for season 2 with new showrunners

Created by Erin Foster, the show explores love, faith, and family dynamics in an unexpected romantic pairing.

Netflix has officially renewed its breakout romantic comedy Nobody Wants This for a second season. The hit series, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, made waves when it debuted on September 26, quickly climbing to No. 1 on the platform with over 26.2 million views in just 11 days. Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria announced the renewal, alongside news of a showrunner change for Season 2.

The comedy, created by Erin Foster, will continue under the creative direction of new showrunners Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, known for their work on HBO’s Girls. Konner and Kaplan will also executive produce alongside returning producers Erin and Sara Foster, Bell, Steven Levitan, Oly Obst, and others. Nora Silver, President of Jenni Konner Productions, has also joined as an executive producer.

Nobody Wants This follows the unexpected romance between Joanne (Bell), an agnostic podcast host, and Noah (Brody), an unconventional rabbi. The show’s success has sparked conversations around modern love, faith, and family dynamics, resonating with a broad audience. Its fresh take on relationships, combined with strong performances and sharp writing, helped it become one of Netflix’s most successful romantic comedies.

“Creating Nobody Wants This has been a career highlight,” said Foster, who drew from personal experiences for the series. She remains an integral part of the writing team, ensuring the show maintains her original vision despite the shift in leadership.

The second season is set to begin filming in January, with a returning cast that includes Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, Stephanie Faracy, Tovah Feldshuh, and Paul Ben-Victor.

With Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan on board, expectations for Season 2 are high, as the duo brings their comedic expertise and fresh perspectives to an already beloved series.
