Saifullah Abro faces disqualification reference
A reference seeking the disqualification of PTI Senator Saifullah Abro under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution has been filed in the Senate Secretariat.
The petitioner, Majid Mahmood, a resident of Islamabad's Tarlai area, has accused Senator Abro of concealing his income and lacking the required experience for the technocrat seat.
According to the details, Saifullah Abro was elected as a senator from Sindh on a technocrat seat for the term 2011 to 2027 under the PTI ticket.
However, the petition claims that the documents Abro submitted regarding his experience are misleading. The minimum requirement for the technocrat seat is 20 years of relevant experience, which the petitioner argues Abro has not met.
The reference further alleges that Abro submitted bogus documents related to multi-billion-rupee projects, including the Larkana Flyover and Metro Bus Project Multan.
The senator is accused of deliberately withholding information about his children and failing to disclose income generated from agricultural land.
The petitioner has requested the Senate chairman to convert the application into a formal reference and forward it to the ECP for an inquiry.
