The long-awaited sequel to Ridley Scott’s Gladiator, Gladiator 2, is set to make its global premiere in London on November 13, 2024. Paramount Pictures has teamed up with The Film and TV Charity to host the event as the 72nd Royal Film Performance, a renowned fundraising event often attended by members of the British royal family. Notably, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were guests at the Royal Film Performance of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022.

Although the film may screen elsewhere beforehand, the London event will mark the first major red carpet appearance of the Gladiator 2 cast and crew. Set 24 years after the original 2000 film, Gladiator 2 continues the story of Ancient Rome, following Lucius (played by Paul Mescal) as he faces new threats in the Colosseum after the death of Maximus.

Director Ridley Scott shared his excitement for the sequel, saying, "Ever since making Gladiator, I kept asking myself if there could be a sequel. After nearly 25 years, we're excited to answer that question." Scott added that the global premiere being part of the Royal Film Performance, which supports the UK’s film and television industry, is a fitting way to debut the film.

John Fletcher, Managing Director of Paramount Pictures U.K., expressed pride in the event, saying, “We are hugely excited and honored that Gladiator 2 will be the 72nd Royal Film Performance. This worthy charity is a fantastic partner for this hugely anticipated movie, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to a memorable night.”

The film will be released in the U.K. on November 15 and in the U.S. on November 22, 2024. Marcus Ryder, CEO of The Film and TV Charity, emphasized the importance of the event in supporting the industry, especially during challenging times.
