Aaron Carter’s doctor Dr. John Faber responds to wrongful death lawsuit
Dr. John Faber, who treated the late pop star Aaron Carter from 2020 to 2022, has asked for the wrongful death lawsuit filed by Carter’s son and ex-fiancée, Melanie Martin, to be dismissed. According to court documents obtained by In Touch Weekly, Dr. Faber denies responsibility for Carter’s tragic death, which occurred on November 5, 2022.
Faber asserts that while he treated Carter for anxiety and prescribed medications such as Xanax, he closely monitored the singer’s medication intake. He also claims that Carter admitted to obtaining controlled substances, including opioids, from non-medical sources, particularly his girlfriend, but refused to disclose her name. Dr. Faber noted that he regularly checked prescription databases and adjusted Carter's medication plan when these incidents were revealed.
Despite Carter’s struggles with substance abuse, Faber argues that he took proper precautions to manage the singer's condition and warned him against huffing inhalants—a practice that contributed to his accidental drowning, as noted in the Los Angeles County Coroner’s report.
Dr. Faber has denied negligence and requested the court throw out the lawsuit, maintaining that Carter's death was caused by his use of non-prescribed drugs and the inhalation of compressed gas, substances that were beyond his control.
