Oscar-winning actor Al Pacino has shared a profound revelation about life and death in a recent interview. During a New York Times profile, Pacino recounted a harrowing near-death experience in 2020, which led him to believe there is no afterlife. The Scarface star explained that he briefly lost his pulse during a severe illness, only to be revived by paramedics. When asked about his metaphysical takeaways, Pacino stated, “There’s nothing there. You’re gone.”

The incident occurred just before the widespread rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, with Pacino suffering from a high fever and dehydration. Reflecting on the event, Pacino said, “I was sitting there in my house, and I was gone. I didn’t have a pulse.” He vividly described the moment when he opened his eyes to find paramedics dressed in full protective gear surrounding him, exclaiming, “He’s back.”

Pacino’s experience challenges long-held beliefs about the afterlife. Drawing from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Pacino described death as “no more,” rejecting notions of eternal life or spiritual continuation. “I didn’t see the white light or anything,” he explained. For Pacino, the reality is stark: “When you die, you die.”

While Pacino’s comments may surprise those who expected more spiritual reflections from the legendary actor, he insists that his perspective is not morbid. “I don’t find this morbid, man,” he said, concluding that his experience was just another chapter in his extraordinary life.
