Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa observed on Monday that judicial rulings could not rise above the Constitution and the law but regretted that certain judicial decisions had badly harmed the country.
A three-member bench, led by the chief justice, and including Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, heard a review appeal of an employee of the Punjab Population Welfare Department. The bench dismissed the appeal.
During the hearing, the chief justice questioned whether constitutional and legal obligations end upon becoming a judge. He also noted that lawyers seem to have developed an "allergy" to the Constitution.
