Uzma mugged in London, loses late mother's photos

Actor took to IG Stories to vent

For those Pakistanis who feel being robbed out on the streets is the prerogative of their home country, actor Uzma Hassan, who has spent the past few days in London, put those delusions to rest. Taking to her Instagram Stories, the Khaie actor vented her frustrations about being mugged on her last day in the English capital.

"Last night in London and I just had to get mugged!" fumed Uzma on her Stories. Her anger, twinned with despair, was evident as she listed the items that had been taken from her.

"Wallet gone, money gone, ID gone, locker key gone," continued the actor. In addition to having the navigate the challenges that come with losing critical items such as money and identification, Uzma also found herself mourning the loss of personal, sentimental objects she kept close at all times: her late mother's photos.

"My mom's ID and original pictures - gone," she lamented. Earlier in the year, Uzma had tearfully opened up about watching her mother's final moments, and how the traumatic emotional journey had tested her faith. "It's been six years…We forget that our parents are individuals in their own right," she had reflected.

Whilst Uzma's IG Story resonated with her fans, many of whom empathised with the actor, others pointed out that being the victim of a mugging was not unusual in London.

"Very normal for London," commented one fan. "I live here and it's very unsafe. People on bicycles [are] just riding to snatch things all the time. You have to be very careful."

Others used the occasion to illustrate that safety and security should not be taken for granted in any country. "I hope they realise it's not just in Pakistan," added another commenter. "Even we in the UK are scared to go out at night or alone in case we get stabbed, mugged, or harassed."
