Former NCT member Taeil investigated further for alleged sexual assault
Former NCT member Taeil is reportedly under investigation for his involvement in an alleged sexual assault case. On October 7, 2024, it was revealed that Taeil, alongside two friends, was investigated by Bangbae Police Station for "special rape." This term refers to cases where the victim is unable to resist, and the crime involves multiple perpetrators or the use of a weapon. The case has since been transferred to the Seoul Central Prosecutors Office.
According to reports from Chosun, Taeil and his two accomplices—who are not celebrities—were accused of raping an intoxicated woman. The incident, which led to the investigation, has drawn significant public attention. The police have not yet summoned Taeil for further questioning, but if convicted, he could face a prison sentence of more than seven years.
In response to the ongoing investigation, SM Entertainment issued a brief statement, saying, “The case is under investigation and it is hard to give a statement at the moment.” Taeil's removal from NCT had previously been announced without providing details at the time, leaving fans shocked by the recent revelations.
As the investigation progresses, further updates from authorities and SM Entertainment are expected.
