Drake has called out his fake friends, making a scathing public statement amid his ongoing feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar. The two artists, who have been engaged in a heated exchange of diss tracks throughout 2024, saw their rivalry escalate further over the summer when NBA stars LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan were spotted at Lamar’s Juneteenth concert, with DeRozan even joining Lamar on stage.

During a recent appearance at Canadian broadcaster Tyrone Edwards’ Nostalgia Party, Drake grabbed the mic and shared heartfelt words about betrayal and disloyalty. "My real friends are definitely in the building," Drake, 37, declared before addressing the shifting dynamics of friendships, particularly in the entertainment world.

“You’re going to come to a point in life where people you thought were your friends or close to you, they might switch up,” he said. “They might try to move funny with you. They might stab you in the back.”

Drake’s comments come after he reportedly unfollowed both James and DeRozan on Instagram following their ties to Lamar. The feud between Drake and Lamar reached a boiling point earlier this year when the two exchanged personal diss tracks, with Drake accusing Lamar of cheating on his fiancée Whitney Alford, and Lamar responding by accusing Drake of inappropriate behavior towards underage girls—allegations that Drake has vehemently denied.

In a poignant close to his speech, Drake played Beyoncé’s empowering anthem "Me, Myself and I," followed by 50 Cent’s “Many Men,” a track that speaks to betrayal and adversity, reinforcing the theme of his message.

The feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar shows no signs of cooling down, as both continue to take jabs at each other through their music and actions. With this recent display of frustration, Drake has once again shown how personal and complex celebrity friendships can become when fame and rivalry intertwine. Fans of both rappers are watching closely, awaiting the next chapter in this bitter feud.

Drake's emotional outburst has reignited public interest in his ongoing conflict with Lamar, drawing attention to the fragile nature of relationships in the music industry. Whether this rift will lead to more diss tracks or reconciliation remains to be seen.
