Daniel Kaluuya's groundbreaking role as Chris Washington in Get Out has been immortalized with a life-size statue in London's Leicester Square. The statue, featuring his character in the iconic "Sunken Place" pose, will join other legendary film characters like Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, and Bugs Bunny as part of the “Scenes in the Square” exhibition.

Kaluuya, who became a household name after Get Out, expressed his gratitude on Instagram, reminiscing about his early days auditioning near Leicester Square. He shared his excitement over being honored in the same spot, reflecting on the journey from eating "meal deal prawn cocktail crisps" between auditions to now being part of this legendary film trail.

The decision to feature Kaluuya’s Get Out character was made after a poll of 5,000 British film fans, with Chris Washington receiving 20% of the votes. The statue will be unveiled in October, celebrating Get Out's lasting impact on the horror genre and its cultural significance. The trail, launched in 2020, features life-size renditions of beloved characters like Paddington, Wonder Woman, and Gene Kelly from Singin' in the Rain.

Kaluuya’s portrayal of Chris Washington earned him widespread acclaim, and Get Out catapulted both him and director Jordan Peele into the spotlight. Peele made history as the first Black screenwriter to win the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, while Kaluuya later won an Oscar for his role in Judas and the Black Messiah.

Kaluuya's statue stands as a symbol of the future of cinema, highlighting his contributions to the industry and representing a new generation of actors and films to be remembered in London’s cinematic landscape.
