Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has awarded the nation's highest military honour, the Medal of Conquer (Fath Medal), to Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh.

This accolade comes in recognition of the general's role in the operation "True Promise," which targeted Israel with a series of missile strikes.

According to Iranian media, Khamenei presented the award during a special ceremony, highlighting the significance of the Fath Medal, which is bestowed for military achievements.

The operation involved the launch of over 200 ballistic missiles aimed at Israeli targets. Reports indicate that Iranian officials claim 90 percent of these missiles successfully struck their intended targets.

The Fath Medal is adorned with symbols representing the triumphs of Islamic warriors, including three palm fronds, the dome of the Grand Mosque in Khorramshahr, and the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The awarding of this honour began in the 1980s, following the Iran-Iraq war, and it has since been granted to only a select few individuals.

A week ago the IRGC fired approximately 200 missiles at Israel in retaliation for an Israeli air strike that resulted in the deaths of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and IRGC top general Abbas Nilforoushan in Beirut.

This marks Iran's second direct attack on Israel in six months, following a missile and drone assault in April in response to a deadly strike on Iran's consulate in Damascus, which Tehran attributed to Israel.
