PTI protests: Imran Khan's sisters remanded in police custody for a day
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has remanded Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, into police custody for one day. They were arrested from D-Chowk during a protest and are facing charges under terrorism laws.
The court, presided over by Duty Judge Azhar Nadeem, heard the case involving 105 PTI workers, including Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, and Adnan Khan, the brother of PTI leader Asad Qaiser on Sunday.
The workers are being investigated under charges registered at Kohsar Police Station.
The prosecution requested a 20-day physical remand for the accused, while also seeking the judicial remand of nine other female PTI workers. However, the court granted a one-day physical remand for Aleema, Uzma, Adnan, and several other party workers.
The nine female workers were sent to jail on judicial remand.
Aleema and Uzma were arrested on Friday from D-Chowk, where PTI had announced a protest. The two joined the gathering of PTI supporters before being detained and transferred to the Secretariat police station.
The case has drawn attention as it involves prominent figures linked to the former prime minister, and it continues amid heightened political tensions.
