Security sources have denied reports circulating on social media about the imposition of governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), calling them "baseless and fabricated."

This clarification came after Governor Faisal Karim Kundi met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the security situation in the province, which has been impacted by ongoing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests.

During the meeting at the Prime Minister's House, Governor Kundi provided a detailed briefing on the deteriorating law and order in K-P, expressing concerns over the federal government’s perceived lack of engagement.

"The people of K-P feel abandoned to the whims of PTI’s protest politics," Kundi reportedly told the prime minister.

He further criticised the provincial government's use of federal funds, alleging that they were being diverted towards organising anti-Centre protests instead of benefiting the public. "There must be oversight to ensure funds are spent on public welfare, not on political agitation," Kundi insisted.

Kundi urged the prime minister to initiate large-scale development projects in the province to provide relief to the public and improve relations between the Centre and K-P. "The people of K-P are tired of PTI's constant protests," he said, adding that federal support is essential for restoring stability.

Amid growing rumours of governor's rule, security sources confirmed that such claims were "completely unsubstantiated." They reiterated that the focus remains on maintaining law and order in the province without resorting to such drastic measures.

Governor Kundi assured the prime minister of his commitment to fulfilling any responsibilities entrusted to him by the federal government, emphasising the need for stability in K-P.
