Blue Alert: Statewide manhunt underway in Texas after officer injured

Texas authorities have issued a Blue Alert following an early morning incident on Friday, launching a statewide manhunt for Seth Altman, 33, suspected of seriously injuring a police officer.

Altman was last seen in Memphis, Texas, approximately 80 miles south of Amarillo. The Texas Department of Safety has described him as armed and dangerous, warning the public not to approach if spotted.

Who is Seth Altman?

Altman is a white male, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing around 220 pounds. He has blue eyes and red or auburn hair. Authorities say he was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans in the 200 block of South Fourth Street in Memphis at around 11 p.m. Thursday.

The suspect is wanted in connection with the shooting of a law enforcement officer, an incident reported by BNO News and CBS Austin. The officer was shot multiple times and airlifted to hospital, though the officer’s condition remains unknown.

A Blue Alert is issued when a suspect is believed to have killed or seriously injured a law enforcement officer and poses a significant threat to the public. Established in 2008, the program aims to ensure swift apprehension by broadcasting suspect and vehicle descriptions.
