Sabrina Carpenter addresses lip sync rumors during Short n’ Sweet tour
Sabrina Carpenter, the 25-year-old singer currently on her Short n' Sweet tour, has responded to claims of lip-syncing during her performances. The rumors began circulating on TikTok, where a user questioned whether Carpenter sang live at her concerts. In a post shared by Pop Base, as cited by PEOPLE, the user claimed, "Hate to say it but 30% lip singing, 30% backing track, 40% singing."
Carpenter quickly addressed the rumors, responding directly to the post. "I sing live at every show 100%," she wrote, adding humor to her clapback by asking, "Would you like to speak to my audio engineers?" The user responded by saying, "I would and tell them to lower the backtrack voice as it's way too high."
This isn't the first time Carpenter has handled public backlash with wit. The singer, who was recently included in Time's 100 Next list, has been recognized for her success following the release of her sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet. The album, released in August, debuted on the Billboard 200 chart and sold nearly 362,000 units.
As Carpenter continues her tour across the country, her fans and critics alike remain engaged in the conversation about her live performances.
