Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim praises Pakistani military for its contributions to regional peace and anti-terror efforts

Pakistan's Army Chief, General Syed Asim Munir, met with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim to discuss bilateral strategic interests, regional security, and defence cooperation.

The meeting underscored the importance of enhancing military ties between the two nations, as reported by Express news.

According to the ISPR, the Malaysian Prime Minister lauded Pakistan's armed forces for their contributions to regional peace and stability.

He particularly acknowledged the Pakistan Army's professionalism and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, emphasising the need for stronger military collaboration between the two countries.

During the meeting, the Malaysian Prime Minister extended an invitation to General Asim Munir to visit Malaysia, to which the Army Chief expressed gratitude.

The visit is expected to further strengthen the long-standing ties between the two brotherly nations.

General Asim Munir also attended an investment event and official dinner held in honour of the Malaysian Prime Minister at the Presidential Palace.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing the Malaysia-Pakistan High-Level Business Dialogue in Islamabad, assured full support to the business communities of both nations.

He encouraged Pakistani entrepreneurs to embrace the opportunity for joint ventures in diverse fields, including halal meat, information technology, electric vehicles, and semiconductors.

The Prime Minister emphasised the potential for greater collaboration between the two brotherly nations.

Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged the strong business interest from his country in Pakistan, noting that over 30 delegations from Malaysia attended the event.

The delegations' participation indicated their serious intent to explore business opportunities in Pakistan.

He highlighted the upcoming opening of a Malaysian trade office in Karachi as a concrete step toward enhancing trade and investment relations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged the Pakistani business community to take advantage of the vast trade potential between Pakistan and Malaysia.

He called on businesses to seize the opportunities presented by the two countries' expanding economic ties.

Anwar Ibrahim’s comments further underscored Malaysia’s commitment to strengthening economic and business cooperation, with the opening of the trade office in Karachi seen as a move to facilitate stronger bilateral trade.

During the meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr, both Pakistan and Malaysia reiterated their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in key areas such as trade, the economy, the banking sector, food technology, and agriculture.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed Pakistan’s deep interest in building stronger relations with Malaysia, emphasising the importance of mutual interests between the two nations.

The visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim was seen as a significant step in furthering the cooperation between the two countries.

In a special investiture ceremony, President Zardari conferred the prestigious Nishan-e-Pakistan upon Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

The award recognised his consistent support for Islamic causes and his close friendship with Pakistan.

The ceremony highlighted Ibrahim’s long-standing advocacy for humanitarian causes, Islamic values, and his work against oppression globally.

The Malaysian leader was acknowledged for his efforts in promoting interfaith harmony and countering Islamophobia.

It was noted during the ceremony that Anwar Ibrahim has been deeply influenced by the work of Allama Iqbal, which has served as a source of inspiration throughout his political career.

The Malaysian Prime Minister’s commitment to social justice, human rights, and the causes of self-determination has been a hallmark of his leadership.

His continuous efforts to foster better understanding between different faiths and cultures were highlighted as a significant part of his legacy.
