Man attacks parents with dagger
A man attacked his family with a dagger, injuring his mother, father and brother on Thursday in Chak Number 60 GB.
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station.
Police said Abdul Jabbar, the accused, severely injured his mother Hamida Bibi, father Abdul Ghafoor and brother Sardar after a minor argument escalated.
Rescue personnel arrived at the scene, provided first aid to the injured, and transferred them to a hospital.
Witnesses said Jabbar was assaulting his elderly parents when his younger brother intervened, at which point the accused stabbed him as well.
Bystanders managed to overpower Jabbar and handed him over to the police, who have initiated an investigation into the brutal attack.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a man was shot and killed outside the Assistant Commissioner's office in Jaranwala due to a long-standing grudge linked to a divorce dispute.
The victim, Kaleem, father of Islam Shirazi from Sheikhupura, was fatally shot by suspects led by Arbab Bukhari, who fled the scene in a car after opening fire.
The murder was reportedly motivated by Islam's wife Amina seeking a khula (divorce) from the court.
The city police have taken the body to THQ Hospital for a post-mortem and launched a manhunt for the suspects.
The murder, occurring just yards from the Tehsil Kachheri and City Police Station, has raised concerns about security lapses, as the perpetrators managed to escape.
