Land dispute leads to fratricide

A dispute over inherited land turned violent, leading to the killing of a younger brother by his elder sibling and nephew in Gogran, Lodhran. The conflict escalated over the cutting of trees on the shared property, with the elder brother and his son allegedly stabbing the victim with an ice needle.

Kundan Mai, the mother of the deceased said her family owns two kanals of land, with 20 marlas allotted for their home, while the remaining land is shared between her four sons.

The land contains grass and trees, which became the subject of a dispute between her sons. On the evening of the incident, her son Javed went to his elder brother Mukhtiar's shop, where an argument ensued.

In a fit of rage, Mukhtiar reportedly stabbed Javed in the chest and stomach with an ice needle, while his son Waris struck Javed on the head with a bottle.

Javed succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Following the mother's statement, Qureshiwala police registered a case against Mukhtiar and Waris under section 302-34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. District Police Officer Kamran Mumtaz confirmed that both accused have been apprehended by the police.
