Cops ordered back as protest looms

The leaves of Rawalpindi police officers and personnel have once again been abruptly cancelled to maintain law and order situation in response to the call for a protest by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at D-Chowk in the federal capital today (Friday), Islamabad.

Officers and personnel, who were on leave, have been hurriedly called back to their duties, with a warning that those who fail to report back to their designated duties and postings may face dismissals from their jobs.

The PTI leadership has announced a protest in the federal capital tomorrow (Friday). To deal with the situation, the Rawalpindi police have started conducting raids to arrest PTI leaders and active workers, both nominated and unidentified, in cases registered after the September 28 Sangjani public meeting.

To manage the protest and maintain law and order, police leaves across the district have been cancelled.

Rawalpindi City Police Officer Khalid Hamdani has sent a notice to the SSP Operations, all divisional SPs, SDPOs, and relevant authorities regarding the cancellation of police leaves.

The notice states that due to the law and order situation, all types of leaves, except for emergencies, have been cancelled. Officers and personnel on leave must immediately report back to their areas, points, and designated posts today.

The notice also clarifies that those who do not comply with the orders, fail to report for duty, or remain absent will be dismissed from their jobs. Therefore, immediate compliance with the orders must be ensured.
