Douglas Emhoff, husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, has been accused of slapping his then-girlfriend in 2012, according to a Daily Mail report.

The incident allegedly took place during the Cannes Film Festival when Emhoff suspected his girlfriend of flirting with a valet worker.

Reportedly, in a moment of anger, Emhoff slapped her while they waited in a valet queue. His ex-girlfriend was later seen crying in her car, and a friend claims she called them immediately after the incident, sobbing as she described the alleged assault.

The Daily Mail also reported that Emhoff forcefully entered the same car his girlfriend was in after the slap. Their three-month relationship ended shortly afterward, with Emhoff allegedly refusing to apologize for his actions.

This incident occurred a year before Emhoff met Kamala Harris, whom he married in 2014 while she served as California's attorney general. Previously, Emhoff had been married to Kerstin Emhoff, with whom he shares two children, Ella and Cole Emhoff.

Douglas Emhoff, now 59, became the first second gentleman of the United States following Joe Biden's 2020 presidential victory over Donald Trump.
