Kendrick Lamar’s track “Not Like Us” continues to make history.

While some listeners may feel overwhelmed by the track’s omnipresence, especially following Lamar’s headlining performance at this year’s Super Bowl, it’s undeniable that the song has solidified Lamar’s dominance in 2024.

The track has gained widespread recognition, resonating particularly with West Coast rappers and adding a unique chapter to the ongoing competitive narrative within the hip-hop genre.

Released in early May, “Not Like Us” has consistently broken records, becoming the best-selling single of the year. With over 810 million streams to date, it is likely to surpass the one billion mark by the end of 2024. Its infectious nature has made it a streaming powerhouse, continuously climbing the charts.

The latest achievement for Lamar’s track is its tie with Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ 2019 hit “Old Town Road” for the most consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart—20 weeks in total. Overall, the song has been on the chart for 21 weeks.

While Lamar’s fans celebrate the milestone, some Drake supporters have been less enthusiastic about the accomplishment. However, with two months left in the year, Lamar is poised to break even more records.
