Sabrina Carpenter and Beyoncé land Grammy ballot spots, for best new artist and country album

Sabrina Carpenter and Beyoncé are both set to compete in major categories at the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards.

Sabrina Carpenter and Beyoncé are among the frontrunners for the 2025 Grammy Awards, with Carpenter on the ballot for Best New Artist and Beyoncé competing for Best Country Album with her latest release Cowboy Carter, according to a source. Despite releasing her sixth album this year, Carpenter, 25, qualifies for Best New Artist under updated Recording Academy rules. The pop star’s latest album, Short n' Sweet, has gone platinum, and her singles “Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” and “Taste” have dominated the Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive weeks.

Other Best New Artist contenders include Chappell Roan, Benson Boone, Teddy Swims, and Megan Moroney. First-round Grammy voting will take place from Oct. 6 to Oct. 15, with nominations announced on Nov. 8. The Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on Feb. 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Beyoncé’s submission to the Best Country Album category comes seven years after her song “Daddy Lessons” was rejected by the Academy’s country committee. Cowboy Carter features collaborations with artists such as Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson. If nominated, this would mark Beyoncé’s first nod in the country genre. The artist has already made history at the Grammys, becoming the first to earn nominations in rock, rap, R&B, and pop in the same year.
