Three civilians were killed and three wounded in an Israeli airstrike on Syria's capital Damascus on Wednesday, the Syrian state news agency SANA quoted a military source as saying.

The Israeli airstrike targeted a residential building in the Mezzah suburb in western Damascus, the source said. Israel has been carrying out strikes against Iran-linked in Syria for years, but has ramped up such raids since last year's Oct. 7 attack by the Palestinian fighting group Hamas on Israeli territory.
