Legendary actor Rajinikanth admitted to Chennai hospital for cardiac procedure
Veteran actor Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai late on Monday, September 30, after reportedly experiencing stomach problems.
The 73-year-old actor, who has been a towering figure in Indian cinema for decades, is currently in a stable condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Sources close to the hospital confirmed that Rajinikanth is scheduled to undergo an elective procedure, with interventional cardiologist Dr Sai Satish performing the surgery on Tuesday.
The procedure will take place in the hospital’s cardiac cath lab. Fans and well-wishers have been eagerly awaiting updates on the actor's condition.
Rajinikanth had been in Visakhapatnam recently, filming his latest project Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
The actor returned to Chennai last week to attend the audio launch of another upcoming film Vettaiyan, which is set to release on October 10.
At the event, Rajinikanth appeared energetic, even participating in a dance performance alongside lyricist Super Subbu and composer Anirudh Ravichander.
However, his hospitalisation has raised concerns among his devoted fanbase.
Political figures, including Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister MK Stalin, have sent their best wishes. "I wish my dear friend Rajinikanth a speedy recovery," Stalin posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Several others from the film industry, including actor-politician R Sarath Kumar, also extended their support, expressing hope for the actor’s quick return to full health.
Rajinikanth’s recent film Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, was a massive box office success, adding another hit to the superstar’s illustrious career.
His upcoming movie Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel, has already generated significant buzz and is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year.
Fans continue to express their concern and support on social media, with many sharing heartfelt messages and prayers for the actor’s swift recovery.
