Patience with protesters urged

CM asks CS to solve problems of visually-impaired people through talks

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman to solve the problems of visually-impaired people by talking to them.

She directed the authorities not to take any strict action against the protesting visually-impaired people.

The chief minister also expressed her sympathies with the police personnel injured by the protesters.

She directed the authorities to treat the visually-impaired people with patience despite the violence.

CM Maryam Nawaz directed the police, "They are differently-abled persons. We understand their problems. Therefore, we must show restraint to them."

The visually-impaired people have staged a sit-in in favour of their demands at Faisal Chowk. The protesters clashed with the police during an attempt to clear a road. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said in her message on the International Day for Older Persons, "It is our duty to take care of rights of the elderly and to create facilities for them that they deserve." She underscored, "The government is taking steps for the dignity, welfare and comfort of senior citizens."
