In the aftermath of the September 28 Liaquat Bagh protest and the subsequent October 4 Islamabad protest call, candidates from the Rawalpindi Division of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have gone underground to evade arrests and detentions.
Those, who have reportedly gone into hiding, include MNAs, MPAs, City District Union Council officials, and activists. Six cases have already been registered in connection with the previous protests.
Leaders and workers have collectively decided not to give arrests until October 6 and will then initiate the process of seeking interim bails starting October 7. Despite raids by Waris Khan, City, and New Town police on workers' residences, no arrests were made.
Police officers are now advising workers via phone calls to either surrender or file for interim bail through the court.
