A satirical post falsely attributed to former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss went viral on September 30.

The post, created by the X (formerly Twitter) account Politics For You (@PoliticoForYou), claimed that Truss had accused an "underground transgender mafia" of orchestrating her early departure from office. Despite the post being satire, it garnered over 2.5 million views and sparked widespread discussion online.

The viral post came shortly after Truss’s appearance at the Tory conference, where she spoke with Daily Telegraph columnist Tim Stanley. During the 45-minute interview, Truss discussed her views on the "woke establishment," criticized the Equality Act and Gender Recognition Act, and suggested that the Conservative Party would have performed better in the general election if she had remained in charge.

Truss also praised right-wing figures like Argentina's president, Javier Milei, but made no mention of the "underground transgender mafia." Although the quote was fabricated, many believed it to be real due to Truss’s previous comments regarding “trans activists” in the civil service, which she had previously blamed for some of her political challenges.

The satirical post quickly became a topic of online humor, with users engaging in discussions about the fabricated "transgender underground mafia."
