Govt reduces petrol and diesel prices to provide relief to public

The federal government has announced another reduction in petroleum prices, aiming to provide continued relief to the public. Starting from October 1, petrol and diesel prices will be lowered, according to an official notification.

Petrol will see a decrease of Rs2.07 per litre, bringing the price down from Rs249.10 to Rs247.03 per litre. High-speed diesel (HSD) will be reduced by Rs3.40 per litre, lowering its price from Rs249.69 to Rs246.29 per litre.

In addition, light diesel will see a reduction of Rs1.03 per litre, with the new price set at Rs140.90 per litre. Kerosene will also drop by Rs3.57 per litre, bringing its cost down to Rs154.90 per litre from Rs158.47.

Since June 1, 2024, petrol prices have seen a total reduction of Rs21.23 per litre, while diesel prices have dropped by Rs18.67 per litre.

The price cut is being implemented under the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with the aim of passing the benefits directly to the public.

The new prices will take effect at midnight tonight.
