China sets two World records with stunning display of 10,197 drones in Shenzhen

Shenzhen Bay Park witnessed a mesmerizing drone show under the theme "City of Sky, Maybe Shenzhen", where 10,197 drones took to the skies, creating a spectacular visual display.
The event set two new Guinness World Records: "The most multirotor/drones airborne simultaneously from a single computer (outdoors)" and "The largest aerial image formed by multirotors/drones."
The drones painted a stunning night sky, with the creation of a floating "Sky City" being the most awe-inspiring moment.
Interspersed with iconic elements of Shenzhen, the light show also featured landmarks, light displays, and even scenes depicting Wing Chun, symbolizing the city's bright future.
Following the drone show, "cyber fireworks" lit up the sky, painting a vibrant picture of Shenzhen as a "City of Miracles, City of Innovation, City of the Future."
The show continues over seven days during China's National Day holiday, lighting up five districts across the city with more than 10,000 drones each night.
Even Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk praised the technological feat on social media, emphasizing China's global leadership in drone technology.
The drone show highlights Shenzhen’s role as a pioneer in innovation and emerging technologies.
Just weeks earlier, China had also set a world record with a similar display of 7,598 drones over the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in celebration of its 72nd anniversary.
The event formed intricate images in the sky, including The Great Wall of China and a majestic dragon.
The record-breaking fleet of drones in Shenzhen was controlled via a single laptop, with real-time monitoring ensuring precision in creating complex aerial images.
The drones held these images for at least 20 seconds, with one stunning tiger image lasting 37 seconds, marking an extraordinary feat in aerial display technology.
Earlier this year, the Switzerland-based International Institute for Management Development (IMD) launched its inaugural China Company Transformation Indicator (CCTI), which highlighted China's growing influence in the tech and pharmaceutical sectors.
The report showed that internet technology firms continued to dominate China's tech industry, with Baidu, Alibaba, and Tencent ranked among the top five, alongside JD.com and NetEase.
Mark Greeven, CEO of IMD China, mentioned in a video interview with Xinhua that three "hard tech" companies had also secured a place in the top 10, including semiconductor giant SMIC, computer maker Lenovo, and global security technology leader Hikvision.
These companies underscored China's expanding presence in advanced technological industries.
The IMD indicator also revealed the dynamic relationship between foreign multinational corporations and innovative domestic companies within China's pharmaceutical sector.
Greeven noted that the Year of the Dragon was expected to be a "roaring year" for the Chinese economy, with growth projections of 4 to 5% in sectors like real estate and exports, which had traditionally driven China’s economic expansion.
