Despite dip in fuel prices, no cut in public transport fares

Despite the government's significant reduction in petrol and diesel prices, public transport fares have not been decreased.

While speaking to the media at the inter-city bus terminal, affected citizens stated that public transport is used primarily by low-income individuals. It is unjust that despite a potential fare reduction of up to Rs80, fares remain unchanged. As a result, transporters are charging fares as they please, offering no relief to poor passengers who continue to face difficulties.

The citizens further said that whenever fuel prices rise, transport fares are immediately increased. However, the recent reduction of up to Rs80 has had no impact on fares. The low-income passengers of Mirpurkhas have called upon the Commissioner, DIG, Deputy Commissioner, and SSP to ensure that the benefits of the fuel price reduction are passed on to the public.

Meanwhile, Citizens of the central Sindh's town of Digri have called upon the Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon to ensure that public transport owners cut fares following the substantial reduction in fuel prices. Transportation fares have remained unchanged, despite two price cuts in a month.
