Event highlights awareness of drug abuse

ISLAMABAD:

The Karim Khan Afridi Welfare Foundation (KKAWF) and Serena Hotels successfully hosted the 8th edition of the "Save Tomorrow" Run & Walk at Fatima Jinnah Park (F-9 Park) in Islamabad, emphasising their commitment to combatting drug abuse in society.

The event attracted over 500 participants, including students, teachers, diplomats, families, and differently-abled individuals, all united to raise awareness about the dangers of drug overdose and to honour those lost to this epidemic.

Supported by the Prime Minister's Youth Programme, Capital Development Authority, US Educational Foundation Pakistan, and FM 89, the event featured four categories: under 16, 16+, 60+, and differently-abled participants.

Activities included walk-and-run competitions, open mic tributes, and a flash mob. The event started with the police band performing the national anthem, followed by impactful speeches highlighting the importance of community-driven initiatives.

Diplomats at the event commended the organisers and participants for their commitment to addressing this global issue. Prizes were awarded to winners in each category, recognising their dedication and participation in the cause.
