Diddy rejects plea deal, claims racial bias in sex trafficking case
Sean 'Diddy' Combs' lawyer recently made a surprising statement regarding a potential plea deal for his client.
The 54-year-old rapper reportedly has no intention of accepting a plea bargain, according to his attorney, Marc Agnifilo.
Combs maintains his innocence and is determined to fight the case through to trial, Agnifilo revealed to TMZ for the outlet's new documentary on the case.
The lawyer also stated that Combs firmly believes the charges are part of a 'racially motivated prosecution,' suggesting he is being targeted for his success as a Black man.
This statement follows Agnifilo's previous comments to the outlet, where he mentioned that Combs 'can't wait' to testify in court.
Agnifilo, a former Manhattan Assistant District Attorney, shared that Combs is committed to fighting the case, not just for himself, but for others in similar situations who are facing persecution by the government.
The attorney also emphasized that Combs has his family on his mind and wants to prove to them that he remains 'the same man they've always known.'
Agnifolo had previously mentioned that the founder of Bad Boy Records is 'eager' to take the stand.
“I don't know that I could keep him off the stand," he said. “I think he is very eager to tell his story. And I think he will tell every part of his story.”
Agnifilo added that Combs is also ready to address the 2016 incident, where hotel security footage captured him allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.
“He has his story and he has a story that I think only he can tell in the way he can tell it in real-time,” Agnifilo explained. “And it's a human story. It's a story of love. It's a story of hurt. It's a story of heartbreak.”
Combs is also expected to face questions regarding his alleged 'freak-off' parties.
On September 16, Combs was indicted in New York City and charged with racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution.
