Corpse of abducted man found in drain

Victim was a former govt employee running a business

DIJKOT:

The corpse of a man who had been abducted five days ago from the Jhang Bazaar area was found in a drain near the Agriculture University.

Murderers had stabbed the victim multiple times with knives and dumped his body.

The police handed over the body to the heirs after completing the legal formalities.

A case of kidnapping had been registered at the Jhang Bazaar police station and Section 302 was added to the complaint after the discovery of the body.

The police said they had launched efforts to identify and arrest the killers and two suspects had been detained for questioning.

Local police officials said 55-year-old Altaf Hussain, a former education department employee, had left his home in Shabaz Garden on September 23 for work but had been abducted.

His son, Umar Altaf, had filed a kidnapping case.

On Friday, residents informed the police after spotting Hussain's body in the drain behind the Agriculture University. The police arrived at the scene and confirmed Hussain's identity.

After finding the body, the police set it for a post-mortem and handed it to the heirs afterwards.

The legal provision related to murder was added to the kidnapping case that had been registered earlier.

Two men suspected of involvement in the abduction and murder were taken into custody for questioning.

The police said Hussain had been running a business selling of candies sale after retirement.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old boy and a man died in and four others were injured in road traffic accidents.

According to reports, seven-year-old Mujahid, a resident of the 60RB area near Bilal Nagar, was crossing a road when a speeding car coming from Shahkot hit and injured him. He was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The police took the body into custody.

In another accident, a vehicle hit Mohammad Haseeb Khan who was travelling on a motorcycle near the Kashmir Bridge. The victim a severely injured and transferred to a hospital, where he died.

Meanwhile, three heavy vehicles collided, leaving four men injured.
