Actress Nazish Jahangir's bail dismissed in fraud case
An additional district and sessions court dismissed the pre-arrest bail plea of actress Nazish Jahangir in a fraud case, citing non-prosecution after she failed to appear in court.
Nazish had filed for bail, claiming the case against her was baseless and filed solely to tarnish her reputation. Her counsel argued that there was no substantial evidence linking her to the alleged fraud. However, the court dismissed the petition due to her absence.
The fraud case was lodged by fellow actress Azan Aswad Haroon, who accused Nazish of borrowing Rs2.5 million and a car for two months but failing to return either, despite the agreed timeline.
Meanwhile, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Squad (AVLS) was arrested and placed in custody for demanding a bribe of Rs 70,000 from a citizen. According to details, the ASI mistakenly sent the bribe demand to a senior officer instead of the intended citizen. Upon receiving the message, the senior officer immediately took action, ordering ASI Waseem's arrest and the registration of a case against him. DIG Organised Crime Unit, Imran Kishwar, emphasised that strict action will be taken against any officer found engaging in corrupt practices.
