Trump leverages his candidacy for profit by selling $100,000 watches during presidential campaign
Donald Trump has launched a new business venture amid his 2024 presidential campaign: a line of diamond-encrusted watches. Unveiled on Thursday, the "Official Trump Watch Collection" features a high-end model priced at $100,000, adorned with 122 diamonds and available in three 18-karat gold styles. Another model, dubbed the "Fight Fight Fight" watch, is listed at $499.
Trump's latest product launch comes just 40 days before Election Day, potentially opening him up to criticism for blending business with politics. This new venture follows a series of Trump-branded products, including silver coins, Bibles, and sneakers. According to the sales website, proceeds from these watches do not directly benefit Trump's campaign or business interests but operate under a “paid license agreement,” similar to his past ventures.
The timing of the watch collection's release is notable, as Trump continues to face scrutiny following a $489 million civil fraud judgment, which a New York appellate court may reduce or reverse. Despite this, Trump continues to merge his political profile with his entrepreneurial ventures, a strategy that has been part of his brand for years
