Progressive R&B artist Gallant has officially released his third album, Zinc., via Mom + Pop Music.

The new project includes a notable collaboration with singer Nao and explores themes of introspection and personal growth.

Gallant describes Zinc. as a reset for his career: “I saw Zinc. as the album I’d make if I had the chance to follow up my first record Ology again. It’s a fresh start without confusion and the pressures of being part of a big machine."

He adds that the album reflects his personal identity and music tastes, saying, “I created the kind of music I wish existed and I could hear as a fan.”

The album was preceded by the release of four singles: “Coldstar.,” “Fly On the Wall. (Osaka Version),” “Crimes of Compassion.,” and “Centigrade.,” featuring Nao. In discussing “Centigrade.,” Gallant explained, “It’s about the fallout of an argument, there’s a period where you’re alone afterwards, and you have to think about what started it.”

The track “Coldstar.,” produced by Stint, also holds special meaning for Gallant, who said, “I kept thinking about when I used to feel down a lot, how I would wrestle with this persistent feeling of ‘wanting to go home when I’m already there.’”

Zinc. is Gallant’s first album since his 2019 release Sweet Insomnia, which featured collaborations with 6LACK and Sabrina Claudio. Gallant also released his Neptune EP in 2021 and a collaborative EP Sneek with Terrace Martin in 2022.
