JUI-F, PTI to prepare constitutional draft
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will prepare a draft for the constitutional amendments on behalf of the opposition.
According to sources, PTI leader Salman Akram Raja and JUI-F leader Kamran Murtaza will chalk out the draft in light of legal and constitutional matters.
The sources quoted JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman as saying, "We will put forward our draft and proposals to the government once we get them in hand."
"Neither we accept any extension nor will we give extension to a head of any institution. My Shoorah has rejected the constitutional amendment and it has advised against toeing the government line," said Maulana Fazl as per the sources.
The sources also quoted PTI leader Salman Akram Raja as saying, "We have to hold a protest on Friday and we will sit afterwards. They want to try the PTI founder in a military court."
In reply to Raja's remarks, the JUI-F chief said he is aware of many wrong things in the constitutional package. Maulana Fazl vowed to stop extra-constitutional steps through the power of the vote in parliament and through public mobilization outside the parliament.
The lawyer leaders of the both parties will meet again on Friday. The opposition will put forward its recommendations after vetting the government's draft.
