KARACHI:

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar has announced that the JI is going to hold sit-in protests on September 29 against the government over its failure to honor it's own written agreement in connection with providing relief to masses against the Independent Power Producers (IPPs), excessive and uneven taxation.

The JI leader announced this while addressing a press conference held at Idara Noor-e-Haq, the JI Karachi headquarters on Thursday.

He said that in accordance with the directions by JI Pakistan Ameer Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, the JI Karachi chapter has decided to stage sit-in protests on the 10 major arteries, including Sharea Faisal, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, Super Highway, National Highway, Hub River Road, Maripur Road among others. He said that the JI has been striving to bring some ease for the already marooned masses in the country. The government kept focus on pressing lower middle classes against the wall through heavy taxation and unjust regulations.
