Chappell Roan clarifies she will vote for Kamala Harris but not endorse her
Pop singer Chappell Roan has revealed she plans to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming election, following an intense backlash from her fanbase.
In a TikTok video posted on Wednesday, Roan clarified that while she’s casting her vote for Harris, she is not offering an endorsement of the Democratic ticket. The 26-year-old artist’s announcement came after her comments in a recent interview with The Guardian sparked criticism.
@chappellroan Im done talking about it. If you dont get what im saying from this, its a lost cause. And im not forcing you to agree with me. This is my statement. Have a good day

In the interview, Roan remarked that she didn’t feel “pressured to endorse someone” for the 2024 election, citing “problems on both sides.” This led to accusations from some of her liberal followers that she was a “closet Republican.”
After releasing a TikTok video earlier in the week stating she would not be voting for former President Donald Trump, Roan faced ongoing criticism. In her follow-up video on Wednesday, Roan addressed the issue directly, saying, “I’m voting for f---ing Kamala, but I’m not settling for what has been offered, because that’s questionable.”
She further clarified that she views voting and endorsing as two separate actions, stating, “That’s why I can’t endorse.” Roan referenced transgender rights and the war on Gaza as factors influencing her decision not to fully endorse the Democratic platform.
The singer, who has been open about her political views in the past, had previously turned down an invitation to perform at the White House during Pride Month, saying she would only do so when “liberty, justice, and freedom” were fully achieved.
