Diamer-Bhasha Dam: MQM demands compensation for all
The MQM and their supporters staged a sit-in lasting over a day on the Karakoram Highway.

Regional leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and their supporters staged a sit-in lasting over a day on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) in Chilas in Gilgit-Baltistan. The protesters demanded an equal share of land compensation for the residents of Chilas, in Diamer Valley, where the Diamer-Bhasha Dam is being built. Officials said the there were about 500 protesters. However, the MQM claimed that over 8,000 people took part in it.
